The Charvak Reservoir lies in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region, among the mountains of the Western Tian Shan. It is formed by the dam of the Charvak hydroelectric station on the Chirchik river. The nearest settlement to the resort is the village of Yusufkhona
The drive from the centre of Tashkent takes about 90 minutes. The route runs through Gazalkent, the district centre of Bostanlyk, and then along the shore. The distance works equally well for a weekend and for a whole season
There is plenty to see around the reservoir. Chimgan is a mountain resort at the foot of Greater Chimgan peak, and Amirsoy operates in the mountains to the south. The village of Brichmulla sits on the eastern shore. By the water near the resort there are Sharshara beach with a swimming area and Robinzon beach with boat and catamaran rental, a panoramic gazebo with a viewpoint, a café by the shore road and a charging station for electric cars
